Sing | Ed Sheeran

This whole long weekend has been just finding one good song after another.  The new Ed Sheeran, amazing! He sounds a bit like Justified era JT and I dig it.  And it’s nice to hear him singing about something that isn’t about broken hearts, or sappy-lovey-dovey baloney.

To keep the light on, honey, is the least that I can do
If I keep running back to you
Your heart is a slow train coming, I’m afraid to make my move
If I keep running back to you

For the Foxes | Running Back to You

I think I just found my new favourite song.

You’ll enjoy if you like MGMT, Bombay Bicycle Club or Two Door Cinema Club, I think.

"I have come gradually to understand that the liberal
arts cliché about teaching you how to think is actually shorthand for a
much deeper, more serious idea: learning how to think really means
learning how to exercise some control over how and what you think. It
means being conscious and aware enough to choose what you pay
attention to and to choose how you construct meaning from experience.
Because if you cannot exercise this kind of choice in adult life, you will be
totally hosed.”

David Foster Wallace | This is Water

My friend sent me this commencement speech last year, while I was in my last semester of university.  While it resonated with me at the time, listening to it again, now - now that I’m working full-time and terrified of being trapped in routine and ‘wasting my life’ and feeling like ‘there has to be more’ that wow.  Everything in this speech rings so true and gives you so much to digest.  If you’ve been feeling anything like me at all, I would recommend giving it a listen, whether it be for the first time, or a second.

4.20.14 That’s all I’ve ever done, traffic in words. Sometimes I still think about word counts the way a general must think about casualties.

4.20.14 Mr. Moustafa —  Alexandre Desplat

healthymadness:

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) - directed by Wes Anderson. Starring Ralph Fiennes, Tony Revolori and Saoirse Ronan.

Track: “Mr. Moustafa" by Alexandre Desplat (buy music)

I love this soundtrack (and this movie)! My friend was being annoying on the phone so to drown him out I started playing this and he goes, “Why is there an ice cream truck in your room?”

Ugh.
